FAQ

Which parts of the buildings are printed with the MaxiPrinter?

The MaxiPrinter allows for printing the vertical walls of buildings, but it also enables printing poles, urban furniture, and various structures. In general, the MaxiPrinter can print any type of vertical structure.

What standards govern 3D printed buildings?

In most countries, the standards governing 3D printing methods for buildings are the same as those for traditional methods. In some countries, these standards are specific. This is the case in Dubai, for example, one of the region where concrete 3D printing is the most widespread. Here is the administrative framework proposed by Dubai.

What materials is the MaxiPrinter compatible with?

The use of materials with the MaxiPrinter is unrestricted: it is compatible with most pumpable 3D printing materials (premix printcrete). We recommend Sikacrete733 provided by Sika on all continents. We can also provide our own low-carbon printcrete

We possess advanced expertise in printcrete: Constructions-3D can assist you in identifying a local printing material or in developing a new one. Additionnally, we can support you in establishing a local 3D material factory modeled after the one we built in France.

How to generate 3D printable files for the MaxiPrinter?

The Slicer software developed by Constructions-3D provided with the machine is compatible with .STL and .DXF file formats. These formats are common in most CAD software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks or OnShape.

How long does it take to set up the MaxiPrinter on site?

The MaxiPrinter has been specially designed to optimize deployment time on construction sites, allowing setup in just 15 to 30 minutes. This speed is unmatched in the market, especially compared to « Gantry » printers, which can take up to a week to start up on site.

Does using the MaxiPrinter speed up construction projects?

Depending on the projects, the MaxiPrinter can provide a significant advantage in terms of execution speed. For example, the printing of La Tour, which stands 14 meters tall and has a total surface area of 500 square meters, only required 150 hours of printing with a 3D printer operated by 2 people. This equates to approximately 20 working days of printing.

It would have been possible to halve the printing time by using two MaxiPrinters simultaneously.

Does using the MaxiPrinter reduce construction costs?

Depending on the project, using 3D concrete printing with the MaxiPrinter can offer a significant financial advantage due to the savings in material used, overall reduction in logistics, and the elimination/simplification of certain construction tasks (simpler insulation, integration of networks during printing, easier finishing work, etc.). As this technology becomes more widespread, printing materials will become cheaper and the machines faster.

This will greatly increase the economic appeal of this technology compared to traditional methods.

Are the structures made with the MaxiPrinter more efficient?

A house or building constructed with the MaxiPrinter 3D concrete printer will generally benefit from better insulation performance than a traditional structure. 3D printing also allows for the creation of buildings with unique and innovative shapes. In terms of strength, printed structures meet the same requirements as traditional ones.

What are the applications of the MaxiPrinter?

Thanks to its robust and portable design, the MaxiPrinter 3D concrete printer is particularly suited for on-site building printing. However, it is also possible to print structures such as bridge elements, artificial reefs, poles, or urban furniture. A wide variety of applications is possible.

How is the MaxiPrinter delivered and with which accessories?

The MaxiPrinter is delivered in a 20-foot shipping container equipped with all the necessary accessories for using the printer. It is possible to opt for an additional spare and wear parts pack, which will be shipped with the machine.

What is the delivery time for the MaxiPrinter?

Between 2 weeks and 3 months from the receipt of the deposit are needed before a MaxiPrinter is shipped.

How does the included training with the purchase of a MaxiPrinter take place?

For the purchase of each MaxiPrinter, you will receive one week of training at our testing facility in France. It is recommended to opt for a second week of training at your site once your printer is delivered. There are no prerequisites regarding the profiles of the trainees: our team adapts to your skill levels.

The training covers the following topics:

  • Design and generation of 3D files
  • Installation and relocation of the printer
  • Printing and adjustments
  • Study of projects to be printed

Is it possible to attend a printing demonstration?

It is possible to schedule an appointment for a demo training on our site in France. Sometimes it is possible to see our printers directly at our clients' sites if they are closer to your location. Please contact us in this case.

How does the maintenance and after-sales service of the machine work?

We firmly believe that the success of 3D concrete printing technology mainly depends on the collaboration between the end user and the technology provider.

Therefore, Constructions-3D's strategy is centered around customer support :

  • Direct chat with our technician experts 7d/7
  • Our team of experts is capable of traveling worldwide to service your machine quickly
  • In-depth custom training before and after machines’s delivery
  • Machine parts available worldwide from our stock
  • Printer’s software quick remote maintenance
  • Tailored support for your first printing projects

Are there any additional fees or a subscription required with the MaxiPrinter?

The MaxiPrinter and its software do not require any subscription to operate. It is possible to choose annual maintenance solutions or to purchase a spare parts pack when buying a MaxiPrinter.
